Gigaset Adopts Dialog Semiconductor's Green Technology

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Gigaset Communications GmbH has announced that it has adopted the ultra-low power Green VoIP processors from Dialog Semiconductor (News - Alert).

Using the company's vast experience in voice communications and reputation for quality, the Gigaset pro series has been introduced as a product line of professional VoIP desktop phones. Starting with the DE900 IP PRO and DE700 IP PRO desktop phones, for small and medium enterprises (SME), Dialog's ICs will be integrated into all pro series devices.

With access to online directories and G.722 wideband audio codec for professional HDSP sound, the phones feature a 3.5' color TFT display, 500-name address book, and are powered by the Dialog SC14452 VoIP processor.

To meet the diverse needs of users and manufacturers, the Dialog SC14452 is designed as a VoIP IC with built-in DECT (News - Alert) support and the flexibility to deliver 240-MIPS of computational power. It features a 16-bit CompactRISC processor and two user-programmable Gen2DSPs.

“VoIP systems bring significant competitive advantages and companies are rapidly transitioning towards newer enhanced systems, like the pro series, that embrace the benefits of IP telephony. Gigaset has consistently delivered feature rich, intuitive devices with excellent sound quality. This adoption of our Green VoIP technology reinforces the communications market's shift to more environmentally friendly hardware,” said Dr Jalal Bagherli, CEO at Dialog Semiconductor.

The DE700 IP PRO supports up to eight VoIP accounts and three-way conference calling. With five-way conference calling, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and DECT / and CAT-iq wireless networking, the premium DE900 IP PRO expands this to twelve SIP accounts, the company stated in a press release.

Recently, the company launched two third generation advanced system level power management ICs (PMICs) for tablet PCs, smartphones, embedded computers and multimedia players. Delivering class-leading energy efficiency and power-up flexibility the new DA9053 and DA9021 devices support major mobile graphics and application processor families. The DA9053 becomes Dialog's flagship system level PMIC for high-end multicore-based applications and supports the ARM (News - Alert) Cortex(TM) family while the DA9021 addresses lower power cost-sensitive applications.
