Sonus Networks on its Way to Glory: Growth in SBC Market

By Miguel Leiva-Gomez, TMCnet Contributor

Sonus Networks (News - Alert) announced today that it is experiencing a boom in profits from last quarter. In fact, the company has had the greatest increase in quarterly revenue as of Q3 2011.

The company completely took the SBC market by storm, with an increase in revenue of 35.6 percent in Q3. Year-to-year increase in Q3 2010 to Q3 2011 was at 232.7 percent. This puts Sonus at a 13.9 percent share in the entire SBC market. That’s 5 percent higher than last quarter and over 9 percent higher than last year. With statistics like this, there’s no reason not to trust Sonus’ finances.

“Our third quarter analysis shows that Sonus is experiencing solid growth and distinguishing itself as a vendor to watch in the SBC space,” said directing analyst Diane Myers for VoIP and IMS at Infonetics (News - Alert) Research. “While product testing and acceptance comprises a long cycle with service providers, Sonus has been moving ahead steadily with its SBC product portfolio including the NBS9000 and NBS5200 over the past year.”

SBC systems assist in providing seamless VoIP telephony services that allow things such as emergency number prioritization and network monitoring. The service ensures proper drop-off of all calls and proper initiation for telephone sessions. As well as providing smooth VoIP service, SBC also provides security for the network, ensuring that Denial of Service (DoS) attacks don’t affect infrastructure and communications.

“More and more customers are trusting Sonus to deliver the most advanced SBC products that offer great flexibility and the best performance under real-world conditions,” said David Tipping, VP and general manager of the SBC department at Sonus. “These independent reports underscore that Sonus' networked approach enables the advanced SIP applications and features that enterprise and service provider markets are looking for in a next-generation SBC solution.”
