PE-Inalp Networks Rolls-Out SmartNode SN10200 VoIP Media Gateway Series to Indian Market
By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor
In an effort to help telecom carriers transition from legacy to IP-centric architectures in India, PE-Inalp Networks, an Indian business arm for Patton (News - Alert), has rolled-out a new carrier-grade VoIP media gateway series, SN10200.
In general, a media gateway is a translation device or service that converts digital media streams between disparate telecommunications networks such as PSTN, SS7, Next Generation Networks (NGNs) or PBX (News - Alert). The VoIP media gateway, in particular, performs the conversion between TDM voice to a media streaming protocol and a signaling protocol used in the VoIP system.
As an addition to the company’s SmartNode family, the new SN10200 is a high-capacity SmartNode 10200 VoIP media gateway series designed for telecom carriers, BPOs and large enterprises in India.
Officials with PE-Inalp Networks said that the SN10200 interconnects traditional as well as iPBX phone systems in large enterprises and call centers, to deliver high-volume SIP trunking with up to 90 completed calls per second.
As a carrier-grade VoIP media gateway, the new SN10200 series supports up to 2048 SIP/H.248 voice or T.30/T.38 fax calls, and T1/E1, DS3 or STM-1/OC3 trunks with SS7 signaling.
In addition, the new series also provides transcoding among all voice codecs and signaling protocols, thereby ensuring seamless interoperation with all major softswitches.
Aveek Roy, vice president - South Asia, PE-Inalp Networks, said in a statement, "This announcement expands Patton's SmartNode portfolio far beyond its former 2-to-120-call range and brings an integrated carrier grade scalable media gateway platform to the Indian market.”
Roy added, “With its capability to expand from 16E1 to 63 E1 and provide a single box solution for SS7 / SIGTRAN / ISDN, the SN10200 will address the entire media and signalling unified gateway equipment needs in India for both Carriers and Enterprises.”
Officials with PE-Inalp Networks said in the release that the company’s SmartNode family has large population of its both analog gateway series that supports up to 32 calls (FSX/FXO) and digital gateway series with up to 120 calls (E1/PRI) across industry verticals including ITSPs, call centers, travel services companies, Indian Air Force (IAF), Chennai Port Trust and large oil groups such as IOCL and NOCL.
In recent related news, Patton Electronics, the parent company of PE-Inalp Networks, unveiled a new SmartNode gateway router solution, SmartNode 4660, which targets mid-sized enterprises and service providers in Europe. The new 8-to-24-call SmartNode 4660 is a cost-effective, one-box VoIP-router solution that can be used for up to 8-BRIs with multiple FXS/FXO interfaces.
