PubNub Selected by Rebtel for Improved Service
By Meenakshi Shankar, TMCnet Contributor
In today’s ever-growing age of Android, iPhone (News - Alert), tablets and desktops connected via a multitude of home and corporate firewalls and network proxies, delivering real-time services in a scalable fashion has become a big challenge. In light of this, PubNub, a cloud service for building scalable real-time apps, has revealed that Rebtel (News - Alert), a VoIP company, has selected the company for improving its offered services.
"In the telephony world, milliseconds matter," said Daniel Forsman, head of R&D at Rebtel. "PubNub has allowed us to drive down our infrastructure and development costs by allowing us to message devices anywhere in the world via a single API in fractions of a second.”
As a cloud service, PubNub powers real-time Web on every device. Today, customers are beginning to expect their apps to behave more like the real world, including instantaneous feedback. They don’t like to reload the page, wait for an occasional refresh, or restart an app just to see whether something new has happened; PubNub addresses these unique issues by offering benefits including the following:
· Simplicity: PubNub is simple, easy to learn and easy to use.
· Cloud-Hosted: As a cloud service, there is no operational expertise required.
· Fast: It's fast and globally scalable, so you can deploy anywhere at any time.
· Affordable: PubNub is a cost-effective, pay-as-you-go model.
· Mobile: PubNub knows mobile. Its real-time communications cloud takes into account the challenges of connecting mobile devices so you don’t have to.
"Our partnership with Rebtel marks an important step of our growth into Telecom," Todd Greene, chief executive officer at PubNub said in a statement. "With Rebtel, we've shown our ability to deliver PubNub's world-class real-time service into an industry with the highest standards for reliability and availability.”
In related news, Patton (News - Alert) Electronics, an esteemed provider of VoIP services, has been consistently helping small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) with its latest reveal that its SmartNode Product line is now Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync-certified. The SmartNode Gateway, for example, provides SMBs with the ability to connect their legacy (analog or ISDN) telephones, fax machines, overhead paging speakers, etc. to their Lync Server, allowing them to make this transition at their own pace as funds become readily available. This kind of flexibility is priceless when it boils down to the benefits users will see when being able to work with such unprecedented agility.
SMBs who are constantly on the search for the latest and greatest technology to remain competitive have found that implementing Microsoft Lync into their existing networks can bring highly sought-after advantages, but the process can be extremely challenging. Patton directly addresses this issue with its Lync-certified solutions.
