Radio IP Software Joins Critical Communications Broadband Group
By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor
Radio IP Software has revealed that it is the newest member of the Critical Communications Broadband Group (CCBG). As a member, the company is expected to play a leading role in contributing to the LTE (News - Alert) functionality specifications in the next release of the 3GPP standard, which has a direct impact on public safety broadband networks worldwide.
CCBG is a key working group within the Tetra and Critical Communications Association (TCCA) focused on the development and promotion of wireless critical communications worldwide.
Recently, Radio IP also joined the Canadian National Public Safety Broadband Network group, which is dedicated to the establishment of the 700 MHz spectrum across Canada for public safety broadband communications.
Additionally, company officials said that they are participating in Textron Systems’ War Games project, a project aimed at bringing together a diverse group of government, industry, telecommunications and first responder representatives to determine the full range of requirements that are integral to the successful deployment of the US Department of Commerce’s First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) wireless broadband network across the U.S.
For first responders, the two initiatives seek to integrate new LTE wireless network technologies to improve situational awareness and field safety. In addition, they are hoping to establish compatible cross border national networks.
“We have long been a staunch supporter of various industry associations that further the technological advancement of wireless communications,” said Frank Draper, vice president of sales and marketing at Radio IP in a statement.
Radio IP Software delivers innovative MVPN solutions that provide mobile workforces with secure, real-time access to a wide range of applications and networks. Draper added that the company’s diverse worldwide memberships demonstrate its “unwavering commitment” to help mission-critical agencies across the globe profitably integrate technology and capitalize on the performance and cost benefits of mobile networking.
Earlier this month, the company and Axis (News - Alert)-Tek, a Malaysian-based technology solutions provider, unveiled the deployment of the Mult-IP system in a county-wide MVPN solution, supporting mobile devices from fire, police and EMS agencies serviced by the Malaysia Emergency Response Service (MERS 999).
In related news, Patton (News - Alert) Electronics, an esteemed VoIP equipment provider, recently unveiled its revolutionary ‘futurized’ new generation line of IPv6-ready SmartNode SIP-trunking Media Gateways, which will help enterprises, SMBs and carrier-providers seamlessly transition to the next-generation of Internet connection, IPv6. This new series of VoIP media gateways will offer users unmatched scalability and survivability, as well as protect against obsolescence when IPv6 goes global. Boasting richer, more valuable features at a significantly lower cost, Patton’s new generation of SIP-trunking media gateways will prove very advantageous.
