Phonebooth Encourages Innovative SMBs with First Ever SMB Innovator Awards Contest
By Steve Anderson, Contributing TMCnet Writer
Phonebooth, the cloud-based business VoIP division of Bandwidth, has revealed that it is now taking nominations for its first-ever SMB Innovator Awards contest. The contest, designed as a way to celebrate the achievements of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), especially focuses on feature innovations as part of everyday operations.
The SMB Innovator Awards won't just come with flowery speeches, though; the prize for top honor in the SMB Innovator Award is a hefty $20,000 to help fund any aspect of the business' growth and development, such as the addition of new resources or simply providing general material support toward making the business bigger and better – and of course, more innovative – than it currently is.
Additionally, the top ten firms, including that which takes home the big prize, will also enjoy some extras such as a Phonebooth User license for the year, a Yealink (News - Alert) T-22 HD IP phone, a featured spot in Phonebooth press releases, an engraved SMB Innovator 2013 Award, an SMB Innovator Award badge for use on their websites, and links to the winners' websites from Phonebooth SMB Innovator promotional efforts to add a marketing edge.
Even more, the top ten finalists will be put into the running for a People's Choice Award, in which online voters will decide who will be awarded an additional prize of $2,500. Nominations are currently being accepted throughout the month until November 30, where the top 10 will be then announced on December 7. Additionally, the People's Choice voting follows until December 14, and the winner of said award will follow on December 17.
The awards look to naturally recognize businesses that innovate, but also show off how businesses innovate in key fields including managing employees, providing customer service, impacting their community, taking risks, developing products and simply performing those necessary functions that keep business up and running from day to day.
Jim Mulcahy, Phonebooth's general manager and EVP, elaborated on the purpose behind the SMB Innovator Award, saying, "The SMB Innovator Awards celebrate the trailblazers among today’s small business owners and recognize how they drive business success. We understand what it’s like to be a startup and we want to honor and recognize game-changing approaches. If you are a small business owner who has taken the road less traveled and is making a big impact, we want to hear from you."
Being a startup is not an easy task by any measure, and while startups and small businesses alike have been called the lifeblood of the American economy, they often find themselves facing plenty of problems that are unique to their specificities. Innovation truly goes a long way toward resolving some of those problems, only giving Phonebooth a better reason to recognize – and encourage as a result – innovation in the field.
Which businesses will get the nod in the SMB Innovator Awards? Only time will tell, but the results should be very exciting indeed.
