Parvus Corporation, a supplier of rugged commercial-off-the-shelf computing and IP networking subsystems, launched DuraMAR 31-5915, noted to be a lower-cost alternative for homeland defense and civilian mobile, tactical, vehicle, outdoor networking applications.

The DuraMAR 31-5915 integrates Cisco's (News - Alert) 5915 embedded services router card into a hardened system design with enterprise IOS software for robust security, management, QoS, VLAN, IPv4 / IPv6 routing, IP mobility; supports concurrent data, video, and voice services, firewall and hardware AES encryption acceleration. Other features include; sophisticated mobile networking capabilities and rugged mechanical design.

With a fully dust and water proof enclosure and ruggedized M12 or RJ-45 connectors, the DuraMAR 31-5915 is designed to reliably interface with on board vehicle computers, cameras, Ethernet switches, sensors, monitoring devices, and command-and-control equipment in extreme environments. Company believes that these capabilities can enable transportation authorities, government agencies, energy companies, and heavy industry suppliers to deploy Cisco mobile ready net capabilities; including data, video, and voice services virtually anywhere LAN or WAN connectivity may be required.

The DuraMAR 31-5915 features a shock/vibration resistant design supporting extended temperature operation from -40ºF to +160ºF, providing Ethernet connectivity over rugged field deployable RJ-45 or M12 connectors in a sealed metal chassis designed for mounting to any machine or flat surface. With Cisco Enterprise IOS software, the unit delivers the performance, security, advanced quality of service, high availability, and manageability that customers expect from Cisco IOS-based routing technology.

Company statement clarified that samples of the DuraMAR 31-5915 will be made available from early Q1 2013.
