TMCNet VoIP Routers Week in Review
By Steve Anderson, Contributing TMCnet Writer
The last week of 2012 is come and gone, and with it, a lot of news about VoIP routers. Not even the Christmas holiday could deter us from finding all the biggest and best news in the sector and bringing it right back here to you, so let's settle in and check out what was big news in the final full week of 2012 with our Week in Review coverage!
First came a look at the issue of how innovative small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) were looking to use VoIP in their standard line of business. The advantages brought in by VoIP, such as improved features and reduced costs, especially when it comes to long-distance and international calling, were hard to turn down, and studies indicated that the sector was set to make some major gains when it came to VoIP.
Some estimates figured that by 2018, the VoIP market would be worth better than $20 billion, and given the rise of mobile VoIP along with the regular, that made some sense.
Next we examined a new offering from The Mesh Networks, who had brought in a new line of video products for HomeNet router customers. Specifically, these videos are geared toward providing a better understanding of the features offered by the HomeNet Intelligent Router system, and the benefits offered by the use of said features. Since HomeNet's line of products offer total control over an Internet experience, thus boosting the quality of same, it allows for those who really understand how to use the HomeNet router to get a lot out of it.
Thus, The Mesh Networks are looking to help exhibit HomeNet's capabilities and give its own network offerings a little extra help as well.
Lastly this week, we had reports of new software by GL Communications (News - Alert), who brought out its new ATM Protocol Analysis and Emulation software. The ATM Analyzer is geared toward handling a variety of different ATM protocols, as well as capturing and reassembling frames from Inverse Multiplexing systems.
The ATM Protocol Analyzer, meanwhile, can offer summary views as well as more detailed analyses of things like Call Detail Views, Hex-dump and Statistics functions, complete with call tracing from UNI signaling parameters.
It was clearly an eventful week in VoIP routers, and as such, there was plenty of news for our global online community to bring back for us to consider. New videos, new software and an overall analysis all add up to make for a lot to talk about, so be sure to join us back here next week for more news in the VoIP router front, as well as next week for our Week in Review coverage!
