Blue Sky Network Receives STC from EASA
By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Blue Sky Network’s voice system on C-212-200 Airbus Military aircraft.
The announcement was made by both Blue Sky Network and its reseller partner, S4A (Solutions for Aviation).
EASA has thus certified the deployment of Blue Sky Network’s value-added aviation satellite phone system, the Kit 2.
“Receiving this STC from EASA reaffirms our reasoning for partnering with Blue Sky Network,” said Francisco Guerrero, S4A CEO. “We are pleased with this partnership and excited to offer Blue Sky Network’s certified products on C-212-200 Airbus Military aircraft.”
The Kit 2 from Blue Sky Network provides users with a FAA-certified integrated single channel antenna and cable.
Both the antenna and cable can be connected with the Iridium (News - Alert) 9555 or Iridium Extreme satellite phone, according to Blue Sky Network, which notes the Iridium Extreme to be specifically engineered to withstand the toughest environments.
The Iridium 9555 easily enables voice communication as well as GPS tracking services via Blue Sky Network’s New SkyRouter. Blue Sky leverages the Iridium satellite network to provide pole-to-pole voice communication on Airbus Military C-212-200 aircraft.
“We look forward to the opportunity that lies ahead for Blue Sky Network’s certified solutions to be installed on C-212-200 Airbus Military aircraft across the globe,” added Jon Gilbert, CEO and founder of Blue Sky Network.
Blue Sky Network was in the news last year for announcing that its fleet management portal, New SkyRouter, has been selected by RLC, the largest privately-held helicopter operator in the Gulf of Mexico.
