Packet One Networks Selects PortaBilling Oracularius as Platform to Help in Transition from TDM to IP
By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor
Telecom companies need to have an updated system in place to provide accurate and reliable billing to their customers. This not only saves the costs, but also results in better customer service.
PortaOne has announced that Packet One (News - Alert) Networks has selected the company’s PortaBilling Oracularius, a billing and customer management software product. This will help Packet One Networks to fill the gap Malaysia's legacy TDM (Time–Division Multiplexing) infrastructure with next generation IP voice services.
PortaBilling Oracularius caters perfectly to the requirements of Tier 1 and large, fast-growing Tier 2 providers. The platform is based on Oracle (News - Alert) Real Application Cluster environments and allows users to introduce, price and provision various features such as advanced prepaid billing function.
With the availability of advanced prepaid billing function, Packet One Networks (News - Alert) can look to address the issue of whether surcharges should affect the amount of available call time announced to the customer. Other benefits to the company with the deployment of PortaBilling Oracularius include the ability to introduce products and services to the marketplace in quicker time.
PortaBilling Oracularius takes telecommunication billing system to the next step with easy installation and scalability. PortaBilling Oracularius also offers a complete range of VoIP billing software features. These features include real-time mediation and rating.
According to Ti Lian Seng, P1's Chief Technology Officer, “We were finding it difficult to respond quickly to the marketplace. In 2011 we began looking for a new billing and customer management platform—something that would support not only both TDM and IP, but also product bundles like prepaid/postpaid voice, SMA (News - Alert), data and so on, not to mention comprehensive business support functions like billing and reporting," he recalled. "We needed something that would be future–proof for us.”
In 2012, Datora Telecom Group selected PortaBilling Oracularius to offer improved custom designed experience to end users with Datora's mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) and M2M services.
