Eutelsat, SBS Leverage OneAccess to Build Satellite Network for Montenegro Police
By Rahul Arora, TMCnet Contributor
Eutelsat (News - Alert) Communications, a satellite operator, recently announced that it has joined forces with Satellite Broadband Service Network Montenegro (SBS Net), a provider of broadband satellite communication services, to connect Montenegro's police headquarters with the country's six border control stations through a satellite network.
Delivering transmission speeds of up to 20Mbps download and 6Mbps upload, the new network was built using OneAccess' (News - Alert) satellite router that uses KA-SAT capabilities to deliver DSL-like satellite VPN services at DSL-like prices to the enterprise market. The router was developed by OneAccess and Eutelsat mixing incorporated traffic acceleration, IP routing and IP-VPN protected transport, with an aim to improve and expand the range of enterprise services. The router reduces the overall expenses of ownership for both users and operators.
"The ability to exchange information quickly and securely between Montenegro's Police HQ and its six border control stations will enhance its operations considerably," said Ljiljana Vukovic, manager of SBS Net. "This project provides the Police of Montenegro the means to control the country's borders via a highly secure network. The results of extensive testing demonstrated that the OneAccess solution significantly improved the network's user experience and bandwidth capability, while maintaining an absolutely secure environment. We are confident that the benefits of this one-box solution will be recognized by other business clients."
"Enterprise satellite broadband was once considered by the market to be a costly connectivity solution, principally suitable for hard to reach locations. Our partnership with Eutelsat has given us the opportunity to challenge this perception and open a new sales category for satellite broadband, enabling communication service providers of all kinds to offer compelling next generation satellite services to the business marketplace,” said Bertrand Meis (News - Alert), CEO at OneAccess, commented. “This is the first satellite offering to satisfy both the encryption and network optimisation demands required to bring competitive and reliable business-grade satellite connectivity to market. The power of KA-SAT has enabled us to provide innovative and cost-effective products designed to meet the challenging demands not only of distributed companies but also of vital public institutions, such as the Police of Montenegro."
