VoIP Routers Week in Review

Besides new gateways and routers, the VoIP routers community also saw new long-term partnerships this past week. Additionally, the community also witnessed expanded cloud based hosted services, while telecom experts revealed multiple International business phone plans.
This week, Mexico-based value-added reseller SJ Technologies demonstrated U.S. based Patton (News - Alert) Electronics’ full line of SmartNode VoIP gateways and routers at the ElastixWorld 2013 conference in Mexico City. According to Patton’s country manager for Mexico, Antonio Torre, the event strengthened the bond between the companies’, as Patton continues to build and broaden the Elastix (News - Alert) community. The company’s SmartNode VoIP equipment has been certified for interoperability with the Elastix open-source software phone system.
Meanwhile, a long term partnership agreement between Patton Electronics and Yealink (News - Alert), a manufacturer of IP phones and communication solutions, was also announced this past week. As reported, the partnership resulted in a cost-effective, bundled, plug-and-play telephony solution for enterprises, which was released jointly through U.S. distribution partner 888VoIP.
In other news, to further enhance the quality of its managed service, CCI has integrated OneAccess (News - Alert) Networks’ One Series multi-service router and gateway solutions. As reported, the One Series has been designed to reduce the footprint of appliances required to deploy managed cloud services to the SMB and enterprise. This enables service providers not only to maximize their CAPEX ROI, but also to simplify element management, reduce inventory and deliver seamless Quality of Service (QoS) performance.
Meanwhile, in his column, TMC (News - Alert) senior editor Peter Bernstein sheds some light on the migration from traditional time-division multiplexing (TDM) to IP phones. Highlighting the stark realities, the column explains why the transition is slow despite the hype.
