Ikanos Debuts Fusiv Vx500 High-Performance Gateway Processors
By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor
Ikanos (News - Alert) Communications, a provider of advanced broadband semiconductor and software products, stated that its newly released Fusiv Vx500 suite of high-performance gateway processors can cater to carriers’ requirements for smart residential gateways.
The new processors can support different WAN access technologies and can be deployed to optimize cloud access and home LAN QoS management.
With VDSL2 bonding, the new Fusiv Vx58x vectoring xDSL gateway processors enable data transfer rates of up to 400 Mbps and can deliver 11 GHz of offload processing for cloud access, dual-band, dual-concurrent Wi-Fi acceleration (AC1750), LAN management and QoS, and secure content processing and distribution. While the new Vx57x multi-mode gateway processors use the same Fusiv architecture with built in support for any WAN access technology.
Like any Fusiv processors, the new Vx500 suite too utilizes the FusivWare processor software that allows for increased flexibility and reuse in the design of modems, gateways and other devices expediting time-to market for new generations of products produced by Ikanos’ customers. The new Vx500 suite also features USB 3.0 offload for high-performance LTE (News - Alert) support up to Category 7 and a NAS offload engine for local storage and cloud access.
Omid Tahernia, president and chief executive officer at Ikanos, commented, “Ikanos is committed to remaining one of the world’s top suppliers of high-performance gateway processors. The Vx58x family extends our xDSL gateway performance leadership for access over hybrid fiber-copper networks, enabling carriers to deliver multiple services with fiber-like performance over their existing copper infrastructure.”
Tahernia added, “With the introduction of the Vx57x multi-mode gateway processor family, we are extending the benefits of our advanced Fusiv acceleration processor architecture to non-DSL access networks. This enables equipment manufacturers to build a common platform for addressing multiple service provider opportunities, whether the access is through FTTN with VDSL2, FTTdp with G.fast, FTTH, LTE, Ethernet, or cable.”
